The Riigikogu Supported the Chancellor of Justice’s Proposal on Motor Vehicle Tax
On Thursday, members of the Riigikogu supported Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise’s proposal to bring the Motor Vehicle Tax Act and the Traffic Act into compliance with the Constitution. According to the Chancellor of Justice, these laws are unconstitutional because they lack provisions that take into account the destruction of property or other cases in which a vehicle is no longer in use.

Clear Message

On October 15-16, ombudspersons and their advisors from 18 countries visited Estonia to discuss artificial intelligence and human rights topics.

Human Rights Annual Conference “War, Dictatorship and Human Rights“

This year's annual human rights conference's theme was war, dictatorship and human rights. Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise interviewed professor of international relations Nina L. Hrushtshova and Nobel Peace Prize laureate and editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov in the discussion group "For the sake of Russia...".

7. – 8. mail osalesid Õiguskantsleri Kantselei laste ja noorte õiguste osakonna nõunikud Vilniuses Baltimaade ja Poola lasteombudsmanide iga-aastasel kohtumisel. Selgus, et koolikeskkonnas nutiseadmete kasutamise teema on aktuaalne kõigis riikides.

Lapse õiguste saadikud käisid Riigikogu sotsiaalkomisjonis tutvustamas Eesti laste raportit, mis saadeti 2023. aasta novembris ÜRO-le. Komisjoni liikmed arutasid noortega muu hulgas sotsiaalmeedia ja nutiseadmete kasutamist ning maakoolide töö ja koolipäevade korraldust.
