Promotional activities
The Chancellor of Justice, in addition to conducting inspection visits, engages in other activities aimed at preventing ill-treatment. These efforts are designed to raise awareness among people working and residing in places of detention, as well as the general public, about the nature of ill-treatment and the importance of combating it.
Advisers to the Chancellor of Justice have organized training sessions and information days for personnel working in places of detention. Recommendations have been provided to planned or under-construction facilities. During inspection visits, informational materials are distributed to help individuals better understand their fundamental rights and freedoms and to utilize effective complaint mechanisms. The Chancellor of Justice and their advisers have also published articles addressing the topic of ill-treatment.
International cooperation with other preventive bodies and relevant international organizations is considered highly important by the Chancellor of Justice. The Chancellor is an active member of the Council of Europe’s Network of National Preventive Mechanisms against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and maintains close communication with preventive bodies in other European countries.
