Request for information

To obtain public information, you can submit a request for information to the Office of the Chancellor of Justice.

Public information is any information recorded and documented in any form or on any medium, which has been obtained or created while performing public tasks established by law or regulations. Therefore, the public information of the Office of the Chancellor of Justice includes any information recorded and documented in any form or on any medium that the office has obtained or created while carrying out the tasks assigned to the Chancellor of Justice by law.

We will respond to information requests within 5 working days. If responding requires analyzing the information or collecting and documenting additional data, it will not be considered an information request. We will respond to such a letter within 30 working days.

A request for information can be submitted in the following ways:

  • On this website;
  • By sending an email, audio, or video file (in MP3 or MP4 format) titled “Request for information” to the email address [email protected];
  • By postal mail to the contact details of the Office of the Chancellor of Justice;
  • By calling the Chancellor of Justice’s adviser at (+372) 693 8404;
  • In person at the Office of the Chancellor of Justice on weekdays between 9:00 and 17:00.

Transmission of Digitally Signed Documents

To receive a digitally signed document and verify the validity of the digital signature, the Office of the Chancellor of Justice uses the DigiDoc Client software developed by the Estonian Certification Centre.

  • For data security reasons, digitally signed documents must have the extensions *.txt, *.rtf, *.pdf, or *.jpg. The digitally signed text should not contain links that alter the content of the letter.

In the case of a natural person, first and last name. In the case of a legal person, the name of the legal person and the name of its representative.
Please indicate the postal address where you would like to receive a response to your request for information.
Please indicate the email address to which you would like to receive a response to your request for information.
Please indicate as precisely as possible the content of the information requested. In the case of documents, indicate the name and content of the document and, if known, the date and registration number of the document.
Pursuant to Section 14(2) of the Public Information Act, if you request restricted personal data about third parties, you must state the reason why you need the information.
The total size of the documents must not exceed 10 MB.
Please send documents with images, archive files, video and audio files by email.
Unlimited number of files can be uploaded to this field.
