Large survey: what young people do after school and what prevents them from engaging in hobby education
The Chancellor of Justice invited students in grades 6–12 to answer questions about what they do after school, what they would like to do, and what prevents them from doing what they would like. The questions were prompted by this year’s Estonian Human Development Report, which recommends offering young people more leisure-time opportunities on school days.

The opinions of the Chancellor of Justice have been added to the relevant consolidated texts in the State Gazette and can be accessed via the corresponding button in the legal act view. In total, more than 3,000 opinions of the Chancellor of Justice have been added to the State Gazette.

Institute of the Estonian Language and the Chancellor of Justice explored solutions to key digital-era challenges
At a meeting held at the Institute of the Estonian Language (EKI), participants discussed how to create a favourable and clear legal framework for the development of Estonian-language artificial intelligence. It was jointly noted that the preservation and development of the Estonian language in the digital age depends on access to diverse and high-quality language datasets and on a balanced approach to copyright and the public interest.

Madise: Simplifying regulations must serve the protection of fundamental rights, not their abandonment
On 20–21 November, Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise participated in the European Network of Ombudsmen Conference “Upholding a Rights-Based Europe” held in Brussels at the invitation of European Ombudsman Teresa Anjinho. Madise chaired a discussion titled “Regulatory Simplification – What Could It Mean for the Protection of Rights?”

Clear Message

The Estonian Language Institute (EKI) invites people to recognize and honour those individuals, companies, and organizations that value the beauty of the Estonian language and whose societal messages are clear and understandable through the "Selge sõnum" ("Clear Message") competition.

Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise has been an advocate for clear language and the patron of the "Selge sõnum" competition since 2017.

Book "Human Rights"

The Office of the Chancellor of Justice has prepared the book "Human Rights", which is the first comprehensive collection in Estonian on the subject of human rights. The editor-in-chief of the book is Liiri Oja, PhD, Head of the Human Rights Department of the Office of the Chancellor of Justice.

Seminar on Addressing Radicalisation of Gender Views

On 29 October 2025, the Office of the Chancellor of Justice hosted an international seminar addressing the spread of extremist attitudes toward gender roles among young people. The discussion focused on concerns that such views may endanger gender equality and social cohesion.

Training seminar on artificial intelligence and human rights

On October 15-16, ombudspersons and their advisors from 18 countries visited Estonia to discuss artificial intelligence and human rights topics.

Õiguskantsler kutsub 6.‒12. klasside õpilasi vastama küsimustele, mida nad teevad ja mida nad tahaksid teha pärast koolitunde. Küsimused on ajendatud tänavusest Eesti inimarengu aruandest, milles on soovitatud pakkuda noortele koolipäevadel rohkem vaba aja veetmise võimalusi.
